We have now just entered into the second half of our calendar season. Everyone has had their handicaps reviewed according to their best 3 performances of the year so far. There are a few who've gained a shot or two back, most stay the same and only one person lost a shot, this years' Captain, Rob Hughes!
  Despite a few no shows, we still had a strong field of 29 players including 4 guests, one of which a regular, Mick Potter was playing in my group. There was a rollover on the 2's comp offering a prize of 110 Euro. The wind was as ever, to play havoc with a few peoples game including my own. Due to a few changes in my grip and general set up, I have been playing military golf for the last few weeks, left, right, left, right...! Thankfully, many were not affected by the wind, or that's how it seems judging from the fabulous scores on the cards. 5 players scored under par according to their handicaps, a rarity in the society.

  It was a 3-way tie for 3rd place, Dermott Haughian, Tony Fawcett and newcomer Eva Krivacska all came in with 37 points. It was Eva's first time scoring below her handicap, so congratulations to her, the 1st of many I'm sure. It was also tie for 1st place, reduced to a card play-off by just one point, Steve Cording narrowly beat off Billy Seaforth with 23 points on the back 9 and 40 overall. Both players get docked 2 shots off their handicaps. Winning guest this week was Phill Brown, a 19 handicapper who owns a villa on the course.
  Nearest the pins were on the 7th and the 12th, Lynden Bartlam got "all shook up" on the 7th and due to the strong headwind, no one managed to even hit the green on the 12th! The rollover 2's comp was won by only one person, Vince Price for a birdie on the 15th, he scooped the lot!

  After the presentation of prizes, we did the draw for the 1st round proper of our individual match play knockout competition. The one's knocked out in the qualifiers were Dennis McKernon and Lynden Bartlam who automatically go into the Match Play Plate Competition which runs alongside the main comp. There were some interesting pairings in the draw, one of them being myself drawn against Jo McKernon who knocked me out of the semi-finals last year. The draw will be posted here on our website, just click on the leader board section, then the match play or plate.
