The day before my holiday, I'd dropped my car off for some bodywork on the way to golf, so as far as I was concerned was officially on holiday. Therefore I shirked my duties of organising on the day and left it in the very capable hands of our President and Captain! This meant in theory also that I had no excuse if I didn't play well, as it turns out it was my worst game I've had all year! Still the company was good, I was playing with one of our newer members, Morris Piddington, it was the 1st time I'd played with him, regular guest Gary Charnock who's staying in the holiday villa I let out, and another guest Tom Collins a 7 handicapper. We all started off ok, but wheels came off for me as usual on the 8th. We all had our moments of brilliance but Tom was the steadiest of us 4.

   Once again there were in big numbers, 35 of us including 10 guests. We managed to get a few groups off the 10th tee, which worked out well for timing. The weather conditions were near perfect for golf, slightly overcast and not too much wind. I was expecting some big scores in on the day but surprisingly only a select few beat their handicaps. It was a 3-way tie for 2nd place, rookie Eva Krivacska, Dennis "The Menace" McKernon and John Burgess all scored 37 points. John was 1st in with 17 on the back 9, then Eva came in beating John on a card play-off with 19 on the back 9, Eva was really excited but had her hopes dashed by Dennis who after having a blinding back 9 stole 2nd place with 21 points on the back 9. All 3 get cut 1 shot, but the winner, who gets cut 2, was Steve Cording who scored 39 points.

  Our 2's competition was a double rollover and was offering a prize of 172 Euro! Two of our members managed to get a 2, Paul Benham on the 4th and Dennis McKernon on the 12th. Nearest the pins were on the 4th and 7th, and despite Paul getting a 2 on the 4th he didn't get nearest the pin, Mike Turner did! Begs the question what happened Mike?! Nearest on the 7th was that old dog, Dennis McKernon, who's favourite saying is, "better to be born lucky than handsome!" I'll 2nd that Dennis! Another lucky git won the sweepstake yet again, Lynden Bartlam hardly ever seems to pay for his golf, just wins the 50 euro sweep! As we had 10 guests we had a 1st and 2nd prize. Our guest winner, a regular was Dave Wright who's other half Christine, was narrowly beaten on a card play-off for 2nd place by Tom Collins.
