A record breaking day for the society on our 4th Texas Scramble of the year. We had 8 teams of 2 going out in 4 balls, there was hardly a breath of air, and scorching hot.
  I was partnering Derek Mac’s friend Steve Bennett, who plays off 5! After a few tips on the driving range, me and Steve set off on our round. After the 1st 9 we were 3 under par! We were playing with Derek Mac and Dennis McKernon who had put together their other halves as a team for the day. By the end of the round me and Steve had shot a round of 69, a record for the society, we were even putting for eagle on the par 5, 17th after a 3 wood drive and a fantastic 5 wood to the green from Steve. After discounting 20% of our combined handicap (6.2) we ended with a score of 62.8. This of course was enough to win the day although there were some other good scores too. Coming in 2nd were the ladies, Jo McKernon and Joan Roaden with a score of 74.

  Our Sunday fundays are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month. The next one is on the 12th September and will be a 4 ball better ball.
