It looked to be another scorcher of a day in paradise and unusually not too much wind. We had a nice round figure of 24 players making six 4 balls. The perfect start to the day. Also for once I had a day off administration duties allowing me to go out 1st with Mr Captain, Rob Hughes. Accompanying us was regular guest Eian Green and another guest Keith, a chap who'd played with us over the weekend. Not being used to going out 1st it took me a few holes to settle down, but eventually got in the swing of things, if you'll pardon the pun! Also playing well was this years' captain, Rob Hughes who scored 20 points on the 1st 9 with 4 pars and a birdie on the 5th. He seemed unstoppable but after a mistake on the 13th I managed to pull level with him.

  We stayed within a shot of each other until the 16th where I was on the edge of the green in 2, then chipped past the hole, and proceeded to 3 putt too many to score, then for the 1st time in months put not 1 but 2 balls in the house on the dogleg of the 17th, goodnight sweetheart for me. Rob on the other hand parred both 16 & 17 and narrowly missed the par on the 18th. He finished up with a whopping 41 points which was enough to win the day. But not far behind with 39 points was a tie between 24 handicapper Derek Bailey and 15 handicapper Paul Benham. Paul just sneeked it on a card play-off on the back 9. Winning guest was Andrew Fisher a 15 handicapper from Ireland who scored 37 points, a very high score for a guest on this course. I put it down to the clubs I lent him, maybe should have used them myself!

  Nearest the pins were won Vince Price on the 4th, and Derek Mac on the 15th. Our 2's comp which was rolled over from two weeks ago and offered a prize of 88 euros was won by myself and Paul Benham, both of us got a 2 on the 7th. Lucky winner of the sweepstake was Peter Flynn.
