  Well, fair weather golfers we are not, as was proved on our Sunday Funday Texas Scramble. The heavens opened during most of the game. Didn't dampen our spirits though (just every item of clothing we had on!) It also provided quite an entertaining game for the team I was with. Terry Blood provided most of it with losing grip of his driver on the 2nd hole and launching it down the gully on the left, went further than his ball that went off to the right! This even beats Pepes longest club launch!!! Not content with this, Terry did an amazing drive on the par 3, 7th. He used a skimming technique to go in & out of the lake before the 2 trees that he skilfully missed by inches to bounce on the wooden edge of the lake making a perfect landing on the green to finish up about five feet from the pin! Then casually turns to us and tells us it was his trusty 4 iron!! Another soaking later and we find ourselves on the 12th, a long par 3. On this occasion Terry loses grip of his driver again and launches it to the top of a nearby tree! We were in fits of laughter as he scaled the tree to rescue his rescue club!

  Anyway the outcome of the game was an outright draw between teams Dennis & Jo McKernon and Alan Wrigley & Phil Richards, both ending with fantastic scores of 72.8, even on a card count-back they couldn't be separated.

Our next society event is on 21st December and 4th January 2005. Tee times are from 10.30 am.
