The
format for this fun event was made up on the day, as we were an
odd number of players a team game was out of the window. So past
captain Coops suggested a medal competition. A medal comp is when
you have to count every single shot per hole until it goes into
the hole, even if takes 15 shots. At the end the players' handicap
is deducted from the total amount of shots to find the winner. Everyone
was in agreement, so after doing a blind draw there and then, we
set off to battle the course another time. Once again I was drawn
with Graham as well as Steve Lowe who works for Kings Food and just
back off holiday Peter Flynn. Being a medal format it can potentially
take a little longer to play but the course wasn't that busy so
it didn't matter.
Again some fabulous golf was played judging by the cards,
I battled to try and play to my handicap and shoot 83, but went
out of bounds on the dreaded 2nd and ended up shooting 84. Coops
& John Burgess were not far behind and shot just 2 over their
handicaps with a rounds of 90 & 91. The winner of the day with
a net 67 with an 11 on his card (bandit!) was Billy Seaforth who
shot 87 with a 20 handicap. 8 pars, 8 bogeys, 1 double bogey and
an 11 on the 13th hole made up Billy’s extraordinary round.
He didn’t however get a 2, and a total of 116 euros was up
for grabs on a double rollover. So you can imagine I was ecstatic
when I sank a 12 foot putt on the 12th for a birdie 2! Apparently,
John Burgess was also ecstatic on the 15th as was new member Terry
Johnstone on the 4th! Would you believe that 3 of us managed to
get a 2 on the same day! Though not getting a birdie as such, Coops
tell me that a birdie got him on the 14th when a seagull picked
his ball up dropped it nearer the hole on the green. So as you can
see there’s always something different on every one of our
days out, and we always have a good time so if you want to join
in the fun, give me a buzz or drop me an email on the numbers below.
Don't forget
our next event is on Tuesday, 26th September followed
by games on Tuesday 10th & Sunday 15th October.
