As is the norm after one of our major cup days, the
following few events tend to be a little quieter than normal. This
is what happened on Sunday 18th September. We've had a busy time
of it lately, with not only the cup events, society days and Ryder
Cup, but also making our way through the rounds of our individual
match play competition. A few of us are a little "golfed out". These
factors combined with some of our members away on business and holiday
made for a quiet affair for this event. Still, important points
could be obtained for our yearly comps such as the player of the
year. With only 6 Stableford events left this year that count for
this comp, things are getting very tight at the top with only 1
point separating 1st and 2nd. Narrowing the gap though was the runner
up of this Sunday comp. Not a high scoring game mainly due to the
high winds, but on this occasion with 35 points, Dennis McKernon
scored enough to put him in 2nd place and earn him 29 vital points
for player of the year. Being below 36, therefore not playing to
his handicap, he will only be docked a half a shot off his handicap,
this will not effect him unless he comes 2nd again with less than
36 points.

It was a first
for our winner who came in with 37 points. Noel Mulligan managed
this great score in pretty tough conditions. It looks like his game
is coming together and could be a potential threat to others in
the near future! Nearest the pins were won by Jo McKernon (as usual!)
on the 4th and Paul Benham (who also won the sweep) on the par three
15th. The 2's comp wasn't won and is therefore rolled over to our
next comp, a better ball on Tuesday 27th September.
The
details of all our other competitions are posted on the Leaderboard
page where you can find the up to date state of play on all our
competitions and who is
doing what and when.
Don’t
forget our next event is Tuesday, 27th September.
Tee times are from 10.40 am followed by Sunday 9th October.
