Jo McKernon asked to play with wonderboy Dan Reeve along with myself and another guest Dean. Dan got off to a good start by tapping in the 1st for par after just missing his birdie. He did however, fluff his drive on the 2nd, but apart from that Dan made very few mistakes for the rest of the day, even getting 2 birdies on the 7th and 17th. Dean. Our guest Dean, didn't fair quite so well, though not playing that bad, managed to lose 6 balls by the 7th hole and after seeing Dan sink his12ft putt for birdie, decided that enough was enough went straight to the 19th to sink a few there! Dan has that effect on me sometimes too! In fact, me and Dan had a personal score to settle too. In the 2 weeks that he's been here, we'd played 5 times, 2 of them were 9 holes of which I'd won both and one of the 18 hole games and Dan had won the other. So the score was 2-1 to me (counting the two 9 holes as one full round), Dan had to save his pride, which he did in great style. When Dan plays well, there's no catching him and he managed to beat me and all the other players on the day too with 39 points off a 13 handicap, his personal best on the course. In 2nd place only just behind with 38 points, was Dave Cooper followed closely by Paul Benham with 35. This means I have a few months to get some practice in before me and Dan have our decider, so watch out Dan, I'm in serious training! Don't forget our next event after the Trider Cup will be Tuesday, 12th September. Tee times are from 10.00 am followed by games on Sunday 17th September and Tuesday 26th September.
