Tuesday 23rd November was a day with impressive scoring from quite a few, but the day was definately dominated by the dynamic duo of late Dennis and Jo McKernon. Both have been playing really well recently and had to face each other in the semi-final of the Match Play competition last week. The outcome was that Jo beat Dennis after drawing their 1st game and having to play a 2nd. Their success continued as you can see from the results of Tuesdays’ society day.

Getting a shot back this week was Captain Dave Cooper, now playing off 24.

Guest winner this week was John Wood playing off a handicap of 11 with a score of 35 points, 21 on front 9, 14 on back 9.

Nearest the pin on the 7th was won by Lynden Bartlam, and the 15th was won by yet again Dennis McKernon! The sweepstake was won by Dave Cooper, who got his days golf for free!
The 2’s competition was another rollover from the week before and was won by 3 people! Guest Ted Power and both Jo & Dennis McKernon got 25 Euro each!

I, for the 1st (and last) time ever, had a caddy, the golf widow herself Tracy, who pushed my trolley for me at least half of the way (when it wasn’t up hill!) Her caddying, it was said by somebody, is like her singing! Whatever do they mean?!?!

2004 MATCH PLAY TROPHIES

We are now reaching the final stages of our match play competitions. The main competition has Jo Mckernon playing Alan Collier in the final, and Dennis McKernon playing Steed Ansell in the 3rd place play-off. The Plate Trophy is still in its semis with Simon Atherfold facing Dave Hill, and Dave Stevens against Andy Knapman. The winner of each game will play in the finals, which are being held on the day of our AGM, 14th December. There will be quite a crowd of us watching the finals and we would welcome anyone else to come and watch what is promising to be an excellent day of golf. Tee times for the finals are as follows, 3rd place play-offs start at 10.40am, Plate Trophy final at 10.50am and the Grand Final tees off at 11.10am. The details of these and all our other competitions are posted on the Leaderboard page where you can find the up to date state of play on all our competitions.

Our next society events are on Tuesday, 7th December which is a cup day sponsored by the Broncemar Beach Apartments, Caleta de Fuste. We have early tee times from 10.10am and lots of prizes up for grabs. Sunday 12th December is a Texas Scramble, tee times for this event are from 10.40 am. Don’t forget to support us on the Match play finals on Tuesday, 14th December and our Christmas golf bash on Tuesday 21st December tee times from 10.40am.
