Tuesday 25th May was a monster of a day for the society
with our biggest turnout since our Christmas special. With a total
of 26 including 7 guests who were on holiday joining us, it was
set to be quite an interesting days golf.
The winning scores were quite impressive and it was very
close run competition as reflected by the winning scores. 4th
place was tied by Andy Knapman, Dave Brown, Derek Mac & Paul
Worrall with 30 points, Handicaps 18, 26, 20 & 19 respectively.
Getting a shot back for this week was Mike Scarlett, now off 27.

Joan Roaden also won the
“2’s” competition for a birdie on the 12th. A
few extra bits were arranged as it was our Captain Dave Coopers
40th birthday the following day. He cracked open a large bottle
of champagne to celebrate his birthday at the presentation unfortunately
for him that was all he was celebrating that day! He blames it on
his mate leading him astray all week!!
Yet again we are welcoming
new members to the society. Over the last couple of weeks we have
been joined by Alan Collier of Whispers bar, Corralejo, Paul Benham
of the Estrella del Mar complex, Corralejo, and Dennis May who lives
in Las Caletas, the new development near Parque Holandes. We now
have a total of 27 members including 4 country members (members
who only live here part-time). The more the merrier we say!
We have lots of events coming
up. Our next society date, 8th June, is our first sponsors cup,
sponsored by “La Sirena” restaurant in Corralejo. We
will be playing for a Trophy as well as prizes for 1st and 2nd.
All four par 3’s will sponsored for nearest the pin, and QFM
radio 98 FM, are sponsoring a nearest the pin in 2 on the 9th hole.
We will be holding a presentation meal in La Sirena restaurant in
the evening, and do the presentation afterwards. Already the numbers
are looking good for this event.
Other events in the month of June are on Sunday 13th
(Texas Scramble), and Tuesday 22nd, tee times from
10.30 am. Hope to see you there!
