Well, it seems like business as usual, Tuesday 26th October was
a typically sunny day with a moderate wind. We had a total of 23
playing on the day with 5 guests joining us for the event. Again,
we had incredibly high scoring on the day from all our members,
but couldn’t compete with the winner, who must have played
his socks off that day!!!
As usual, the society organized nearest the pin competitions,
but this time on the 4th and 12th par 3 holes, the trickier two
holes of the four par 3’s, as well as a “2’s”
competition which was rolled over from the last society day, now
up to a cash prize of 82 euro and of course the usual 50 euro sweepstake
for the winner.
Getting a shot back this
week was Derek Mac, now playing off 22.
Guest winner
this week was Chris
Moody playing
off a handicap of 18 with a score of 33 points, 17 on front 9, 16
on back 9.
Nearest
the pin on the 4th was won by Simon Atherfold of Grapevine fame, and
the 12th was won by Ted Hewlett of Casa Spice apartments. Gordon Clemens
managed to pick the winner on the sweepstake so got his days golf
for free! The 2’s competition wasn’t won again so is therefore
a double rollover with an estimated prize fund of over 120 Euro. |
I
was asked by some clients of Talk of the Town, to set something
nasty up for their friend, one of our guests, Pete Mulholland, as
Pete had organised their holiday accommodation for them in the partly
nudist complex of Infinity, everyone was under the impression that
his friends were gay despite their constant denial!!! They were
however quite looking forward to the nude barbeque on the Friday!
As Pete was such a nice guy, I couldn’t do anything nasty
to him as they had wanted, but somehow the trolley I’d lent
him fell apart after just 8 holes and he had to carry the rest!!
What goes around comes around I say! Pete did though have a bit
of a nightmare on the
7th where you could say his 2nd shot from
the
ladies was unlikely to win him any awards!

2004 MATCH PLAY TROPHIES
A few rounds have passed on our Individual Matchplay
and Plate trophy games. We are now reaching the semi-finals of the
2004 Plate trophy, things currently stand that Dave Hill will play
Simon Atherfold in the semi’s, and either Pete Thomas or Dave
Stevens will then play the winner of Andy Knapman versus Tony Fawcett.
The original competition is reaching its conclusion now with Alan
Collier through to the final. Alan will face either Dennis or Jo
McKernon. The final of both competitions will be held on 14th December,
teeing off from 10.30. There will be a lot of spectators on the
day as we are also holding our AGM in the afternoon. Everyone is
welcome to come and watch the finals, which I’m sure will
prove to be excellent matches. Further information is posted on
the Leaderboard
page to find the up to date state of play on all our competitions.
Our next society events are on Tuesday,
9th November & Sunday 12th October. Tee times are from
11.30 am a little later than usual. The Sunday event is a 4 ball
betterball competition in teams of 2.
