After seeing how the pro’s handled the course on the
Open, we all had high aspirations on our society day, Tuesday 27th
April. These hopes were soon to be dashed for most of us!! With
an unusual westerly wind, the course played a little different to
normal. We had a good turnout for the day though, 14 members and
four guests. The course was fairly quiet as we set off in teams
of 3’s and 4’s. Joining us after a long time away due
to injury was Simon from the Grapevine, nice to have him back on
board. I believe almost everybody had a bit of a mixed game except
our birthday girl of the day, Joan Roaden, (age with-held!!!) who
scored an whacking 19 points on the front 9.
Getting shots
back this week was our Captain, Dave Cooper, now off 25, and Steed
Ansell who will now be off 20.
As we were
celebrating Joans “**th” birthday we had special prizes
lined up for nearest the pin on each par 3 and also a longest drive.
Results were as follows,
4th Hole - Stu Page
7th Hole - John Williams (guest)
12th - Simon Atherfold
Longest Drive – Terry Blood (240 Yards)
Nobody managed
to hit the green on the 15th though, but a big thank you to Dermott
Haughian for sponsoring the prizes for nearest the pin and longest
drive, he was having to flying out right after the game that day
so missed the presentation!!
The “2`s” competition (anyone getting a
birdie on a par 3), wasn’t won this week so will therefore
be carried over to our next society day, which will be a Sunday
Funday on Sunday, May 9th. We will probably play
a four-ball better ball in teams of two. If you want to join us
as a member or guest for this event, or our Tuesday 11th
game, please contact:
