It was a relatively quiet affair for the society on Tuesday 31st
August, but still a respectable total of 22 played on the day. I
think a lot of our members were saving their energy (and handicaps!!!)
for our next big society event, the Presidents Cup coming up on
the 14th of September.
It was another scorching day on the course, one of the hottest
this year. The conditions made it a tough day to play, but we all
got a good tan! Along with 15 of our members, we had 7 guests joining
with us on the day. The society as usual organized a nearest the
pin competition on the 7th and 15th par 3 holes, along with a “2’s”
competition and a sweepstake for the winner.
It was a beautiful warm sunny day, with a moderate wind
to keep us cool, unlike the last time we played where there was
hardly a breath of air. Some people were also playing their match
play games along side our normal competition. Qualifiers have to
be played as soon as possible to be able to proceed with the Plate
Trophy (for further details see our Leaderboard
page)
Getting a shot back this
week was Simon Atherfold now playing off 20, he came in with a score
of 22points.
Guest winner
this week was Billy
Carter playing
off a handicap of 11 with a score of 32 points, 14 on front 9, 18
on back 9.
Nearest the pin on the
7th was won by Simon Atherfold, and the 15th was won by country
member Terry Blood. The sweepstake was won by Tony Fawcett, who
picked out himself and got his days golf for free! Tony also shared
the 2’s competition with Terry Blood for birdies on the 15th,
they both won themselves 22 Euros each.
Out of our 7 guests this week, Billy Carter came in
with an impressive winning score of 32 points, a very good score
for a guest on this course. In 2nd place was Steve Bennett, who
scored 24 points.
