Well, it started off raining
cats & dogs, that turned into reigning men, but by the end of the
night it was reigning women too! Tuesday 7th December was the last
of our sponsored cup events of the year. A total of 30 played on
the day with 7 guests joining us for the event. We did, yet again,
have a record breaking highest ever score achieved by a member on
a society day. The society organized its usual "2's" competition
and a sweepstake for the winner, and with 8 of the 18 holes sponsored
by local businesses, it was set to be a day (and night) to remember.
Amongst the usual nearest the pins on the par 3's, we also had nearest
the pin in 2 on the 1st and last par 4 holes as well as a Christmas
special, nearest the Santa! A plastic Santa on a pole was placed
on the 5th and 8th fairways and whoever got closest to him won a
special prize!
The day itself started off looking a bit threatening
as dark clouds hung overhead as we left Corralejo, but thankfully
the weather held out throughout the day. This wasn't to say that
conditions were easy because there was a nasty wind coming from
not the usual direction, making play a little tricky. However, this
didn't hinder our outright winner of the day as you can see from
the results.
Nearest the pins and Santa winners were as follows,
Nearest the pin in 2 on the 1st was Jo McKernon
Nearest the pin on the 4th was Jo McKernon
Nearest the Santa in 2 on the 5th was Paul Joseph Worrall (Egor)
Nearest the pin on the 7th was Margot Kenny
Nearest the Santa in 1 on the 8th was Joan Roaden
Nearest the pin on the 12th was Jo McKernon
Nearest the pin on 15th was Derek Mac
Nearest the pin in 2 on the 18th wasn't won so is going to be carried
over to our last game of the year on Tuesday the 21st December.
The prize being 30 euros in cash!
Guest
winner this week was
Christine
Wright playing
off a handicap of 11 with a score of 35 points, 21 on front 9, 14
on back 9.
The 2's competition
was won by guest, Margot Kenny for a birdie on the 7th, she won
herself 65 Euros as well as being runner-up in the guest competition.
The sweep was won by our Captain, Dave Cooper, to whom we
have to say a big thank you to, for being main organizer of this
years Broncemar Beach Cup. Coops also worked very
hard in rounding up support from local businesses to sponsor prizes
for the event. On this note, we have to say a big thanks to all
our sponsors for this magnificent event, namely the Broncemar
Beach Apartments in Caleta de Fuste who
sponsored the day as well as provided an excellent venue for our
evening meal, presentation and the partying that we had afterwards!
The next Broncemar Beach Cup day is being organised
for Tuesday, 21st June 2005, we are hoping to make the longest day
stretch all night as well!

The evening presentation for the 'Bronce,ar Beach Trophy'
The evening presentation was a resounding success, we
even had Canarian TV cameras there to capture the evenings events.
After a fantastic meal with free flowing wine, we headed upstairs
to the karaoke bar where we murdered many a golden oldie, partying
on until the early hours! |
Our
other sponsors and supporters for this event were as follows, Christian
from Heli-tours (Helicopter ride), Catlanza
Catamaran, Abyss Dive Center, Snorkel
Safari, Home from Home, Power
F.M. radio, Kings Food, Fuertenews.com,

our local businesses too!!
