Yet again it was a record-breaking
day for the society! Tuesday 14th September was our biggest numbers
yet. A total of 35 played on the day! A fantastic turn out for the
society. We had a total of 25 of our members playing, as well as
10 guests joining us for the event. It was a hot sunny day with
high winds making the conditions really tough to play in. Of course,
along with our cup and other prizes sponsored by our President,
Derek Mac for the main event, we also had all four par 3’s
sponsored for nearest the pin, and our “2’s” competition
for anyone getting the ball in any hole in just 2 shots, was offering
a prize of 120 euro! This amount was helped along by the winners
of our Sunday fun-day competition, (see below) Dave and Christine
Wright, who donated their winnings of 50 euro to the Presidents
cup day. We also had our sweepstake for the winner offering a cash
prize of 50 euro. We need to thank our sponsors for donating fabulous
prizes for this special day. They were as follows,
Chris and Jill from
Fuertenews.com
Mikey from the Prince
of Wales
Kevin from The Stables
Tracy from Fagins restaurant
Christian from Helicopter tours
Catamaran trip from the Catlanza
It was a very close run competition in such difficult
conditions, but a clear winner was found as was second place, but
third came down to a three way tie.
Getting shots back this week were Dave Stevens, now
playing off 24, and Dennis May now also playing off 17.
Guest winner
this week was Jason
Butler playing
off a handicap of 26 with a score of 31 points, 17 on front 9, 14
on back 9.
Nearest the pin winners were as follows,
nobody hit the green on the 4th, the 7th was won by Steve Cordings,
the 12th was won by Dave Hill and the 15th was won by guest Steve
Pew. The sweepstake was won by the winner, Joan Roaden, who not
only won loads of prizes, but also got her days golf for free! The
2’s competition was won by Elaine Knapman for a birdie on
the 15th, she had to putt a tricky 10 feet putt on a slope, so deservedly
won herself 120 Euros.(Big thanks to David & Christine Wright)
Out of our 10 guests this week, Jason Butler, who despite
playing with a dodgy leg, and having to swing on one leg as from
the 14th, came in with a winning score of 31 points off a handicap
of 26(now 24!!!). In 2nd place was Billy Junior, who scored 24 points
playing off a handicap of 22.

The evening presentation
meal at 'El Rancho' restaurant in Villaverde
|
The
presentation meal was held at El Rancho restaurant in Villaverde,
who did a fabulous job of serving us top quality food and drinks throughout
the evening in a wonderful setting. After the speeches and presentation
of prizes concluded, the boogieing began, with Mikey from the Prince
of Wales putting on his now infamous display of northern soul dancing
which many tried to emulate but few achieved! Steve the DJ kept the
music pumping ‘til we could dance no more.
A great night was had by all. |
